Today I have neither been able to motivate myself to write, nor to draw, nor to work on school work. So instead I baked a pan of muffins and a batch of cookies. Productivity! It's fun!

Oh well. I suppose I could have spent the day lying in bed...

Some words. )

I was so reluctant to pick up my Great Pirate Novel for NaNoWriMo, but I'm so glad I did, holy crap. I was totally stuck on it, and it had been just sitting on my hard drive for five or six years now untouched. Now I've actually got some ideas and words going, and it's almost more of a relief than anything else.

I started out trying to write it chronologically, and I think that was my biggest failing - for this year, I grabbed thirty songs (which were supposed to be done song-a-day but... aren't) for thirty chapters and I'm just writing whatever thematically works with the song - for the ones that have lyrics, my challenge is to somehow include, in order, every word spread through the chapter. As a result, the first chapter is a) porn, b) probably going to be 18000 words long, at the rate I'm going through I Almost Told You That I Loved You. If it works, it works, haha. Although there is a lot more sex in this story than I'd originally expected.

I knew it! I knew that "Put your paws up" was directed at furries!

I'm pretty okay with being a cross between two humans, but if I had to choose, perhaps Time LordxGreat Old One. Would that just be an Ood?

It's weird what gets me writing. Last year it was the dare to include every single word I got wrong at Freerice, in 2007 it was trying to outdo myself with incomprehensible obsessive crazy from Errol's POV, in 2006 it was taking the most audaciously ridiculous dares and making them work because fairies are just flat out weird like that - this year, it was 'Include the lyrics of a song spread through your novel, from 0 to 50k.' So now, on a new plot with new characters (Seriously, brain! Can I never ever start NaNo on November first ever?) I am plodding along, putting a single word from 'Butterflies and Hurricanes' every 354/5 words. Whatever works...

Though I did think about using Suteki Da Ne (translated, since I'm not yet stupid and masochistic enough to attempt to write a novel in a language I don't speak) so the last word of the novel would be 'dream,' but I think the novelty of 'now' being the last word is good enough.

So. New novel, as if I needed a new plot. New motivator, much appreciated. Number of words still only in triple digits. Looks like it's up to the Senotaph to grant me my yearly boon once more.

Predictably, the awesome novel idea which jumped into my head halfway through October decided to be a little bitch and give me the cold shoulder the very second it turned midnight on Halloween. Damnit. And yet, I love NaNoWriMo and continue to subject myself to it. (Appropriate icon is appropriate?)

So I guess I'll just fight bitch-fire with bitch-fire and write something else. Or sit here beating the current idea with a stick until it submits to my authority, because it sounded amusing - a heroic sociopath and a sullen depressive who's masochistic enough to like her, with some kind of endolithic hive-mind ghosts. You know, the fact that I don't have much more to go on than that might be my problem, actually... :|

ETA: What I have so far... 1559 words )

(OH and btw I hate every fricking word of it.)

NaNoWriMo ate my soul. D:

Yeah, coming down of that manic streak of the past two days? Not fun. And my plot? I can't stand it now. Like, throw-in-the-towel, fuck-this-was-a-bad-idea. *whiiiine*

Um, but here, you can read it. If you're feeling self-injurious.
